Ahuan Caravanserai

There is a mountainous area about 30 kilometers away from the east of Semnan which is called Ahuan. This region is 87 kilometers away from Damghan which is cold in winters and mild and temperate in summers. There is a foothill around Ahuan named Kalateh. Kalate has several gardens, fields and watering pools making the tourism flourished in this region. In addition, the existence of the Shah Abbasi caravanserai and the historical stone Anushirvan Rebat increase the historical significance of the region. The caravanserai was built in time of Shah Sultan Hossein Safavid, along the road of Mashhad-Semnan, however, it is called Shah Abbasi. It includes 34 cells around the yard.

It was built in the four-porch architectural style. This brick caravanserai has two alcoves one of which placed on top of the main entrance and another one in front of it. In addition to the central yard, this building has two other smaller yards located on two sides of the main entrance making it unique among other caravanserais.
