River of Darband Valley is one of the most beautiful rivers in Tehran located in the surrounding areas of Tehran city. Darband is defined as one of the districts of Tehran. It was traditionally a village in Shemiran, in the north of Sa’dabad Garden. Darband is one of the most pleasant areas in Tehran. Its river is related to prehistory. The river of Darband Valley flows into Tehran city watering the gardens of the region. In fact, the river of Darband Valley enter the area of Sa’adabad Palace through Darband square going on to flow into Golab Darreh River through Tajrish square and then flowing southward through the underneath Tajrish Tower. Darband Valley is 4700 meters long. The River of Darband Valley passes through different valleys like Osoun, Abshar, Imamzadeh Ibrahim, Kaak, Shir Darreh and Zoun. The river is placed along the route to Tochal mount so that if you continue the way, you will reach the peak. There are a lot of facilities provided along the route of River of Darband Valley. They include restaurants, cafes and stores. Several chambers dedicated to fresh fruit stores around the river attracting the attention of every visitor.
In order to reach the river of Darband valley, you need to first go to Darband square. The main characteristic of the square is the statue of the climber. Twin waterfalls and Shirpala Waterfall are the first things you will encounter along your route to the river from Darband square. The river is placed along the mountainous rocky route. In order to ascend this way you need to climb the mountain. There are a lot of garden-allies with old tall trees pleasing you with the relaxing sound of river along the route. Télésiège, WC, Osoun Hotel, Relief and Rescue Base equipped with helicopter landing strip are the facilities provided here. Known as a special shelter, Shirpala has a terrace overlooking the mountains with proper hosting facilities for climbers, placed along the route of River of Darband Valley. In addition, three other shelters, Shervin shelter and two ones at the peak, one almost useless and the other with a stone-metal dome, are placed along the way. The interesting point about the path is where the slope is steep and the land is hard and rocky, there are a lot of bridges in order to protect the health of climbers.
You can visit Imamzadeh Ibrahim and Pas Qaleh historical village in the upper part of Darband. Twin Waterfall is other natural attraction of the region placed near the river. The abovementioned statue installed in the center of Darband Square is the depiction of Amir Shah Qadami the Sergeant you can also visit on this trip. Sa’dabad Palace is also here, another must-see place.
River of Darband Valley is flowing all seasons on a stone bed. Therefore, you can choose your best time for visiting this place; The river is full of water during spring when the snows are being melted making the landscape extremely spectacular. You may prefer the summer for its cool weather, autumn for its special colors and winter for its snowy mountain.
In order to reach Darband and visit the river, it is enough to get yourself to Tajrish by train, bus or taxi. Then, there are taxis ready there to take you to your desired destination.
